Privacy Policy

Rayu — a private space for the little moments.

Last updated: September 16, 2026

The short version. Rayu keeps your family's memories on your own iPhone, and — if you're signed into iCloud — in your own private iCloud account. They are never sent to us. We have no servers, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party tracking of any kind. We cannot see your memories, and neither can anyone else.

What Rayu stores, and where

Everything you capture in Rayu — photos, videos, audio recordings, notes, quotes, titles, the nicknames you give your family, dates and any place name you add — is stored on your device.

If you are signed into iCloud, Rayu also keeps a copy in your private iCloud database, using Apple's CloudKit. This is your own iCloud account and counts against your own iCloud storage. We have no access to it. Apple handles it under Apple's Privacy Policy.

If you are not signed into iCloud, Rayu works exactly the same, and everything stays on your iPhone only.

What we collect about you

Nothing. Rayu contains no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising identifiers and no third-party software development kits. The app makes no network requests to any server we operate, because we operate none.

Permissions Rayu asks for

Every one of these is optional. Decline any of them and the rest of Rayu still works.

Sharing a memory

When you share a memory, Rayu hands it to the standard iOS share sheet and you choose where it goes — Messages, WhatsApp, Mail, or anywhere else. Rayu is not involved after that, and whatever you share is then covered by the privacy policy of the app you sent it to.

If you send us feedback

Rayu has a Feedback option in Settings. Tapping it opens a pre-filled email in your own mail app. Nothing is sent unless you press send. If you do, we receive your email address and whatever you wrote, and we use it only to read and reply to your feedback. We do not add you to any mailing list, and we do not share it with anyone.

Children

Rayu is designed for parents and caregivers to record moments about the children in their lives. It is intended to be used by adults. It is not directed at children, it does not offer accounts or social features, and it collects no personal information from anyone — including any child a memory is about. Because those memories never leave your device and your own iCloud account, they remain entirely under your control.

Deleting your memories

Because we never receive your memories, there is nothing for us to delete on our side, and no request you need to make of us.

Your rights

Privacy laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export and delete personal data a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing to access or export — your data is already entirely in your hands, on your device and in your iCloud account. The one exception is any feedback email you have chosen to send us; write to us at the address below and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date. If a change ever means Rayu starts collecting something it does not collect today, we will say so clearly in the app before it happens.
